Apologies for the random comment! I was admiring your icon in a BRPS post, then noticed your username and had a '... no, it can't be. Is it? Merriman?' moment and had to check out your profile. And now having checked your profile, I'm taking the liberty of telling you about a game I'm in.
You see, I recently picked up Will Stanton in a multi-verse RP and am having a great time and looking for cast-mates. It's a flexible setting, lj-based, mostly dialogue based and while we have an emphasis on humour/crack, there's room for serious plots and a high standard of characterization. We've got characters from the DCU, Doctor Who, Heroes and a ton of other sci-fi/fantasy, manga and anime series. However, I'm wary of going all out and pimping it at you because this comment is unsolicited and the game itself is large and can be time-intensive. Let me know if you'd like to hear more?
And apologies once again for arriving unannounced as it were.
For one, feel free to use the icon but please credit zennihilation for it? He made it for me but I'm happy to share.
Also, I'd love to see the game. I'm in a bunch of multiverse games on GJ (see here (http://www.greatestjournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=iamnotyourmuse) for my disgustingly large list of characters in play) and I'm not averse to looking at another.
Oh, I appreciate the offer, but an icon like that is special. I will admire it from a far!
You've got an impressive line up! The Eternal Ones looks (from my brief perusal) to be a very interesting premise, very different from the game I'm talking about, so I'm not sure if we'll be your style at all. But I should just link you, and let you make your mind up.
campfuckudie is a zombie-infested summer camp run by an insane director, set in Louisiana and bordered by an invisible magical barrier. Most of the characters are campers, ie. under 21, but we have counsellor applications every 6 months (next in December). The user-info says "think b-grade horror movie" and I think that's a reasonable description of the level of weirdness? Since the camp is supposed to be unpleasant, there's viruses which have wacky effects, monsters -- it's something of an anything goes RP, within reason. All the links to information about the joining process (and it is a process, applications open once a month, they go up to the comm to vote on, you need 70% to get in), taken characters, rules etc. are in the main comm userinfo, or you can ask me.
Since the comm is huge and can be bewildering, I'm going to link you to some of my recent threads (egotistical? Yes! But I thought I'd show you what I like about the game).
This is Will meeting Dr Who for the first time! (http://community.livejournal.com/campfuckudie/3991741.html?thread=1230564797#t1230564797) A major part of camp's appeal for me is that it gives rise to situations like this.
And, well, this is an example of what was a really fun post. (http://community.livejournal.com/campfuckudie/3993807.html) I play Teen Titans Robin as well as Will, which probably makes me incredibly biased, but Tim Drake shows up in the post as well (its_the_cape) and so does Violet Baudelaire (lj user="purple_pliers"). There's a pretty good mix of silly stuff and more serious threads -- Robin arguing with Bikky is silly (http://community.livejournal.com/campfuckudie/3993807.html?thread=1232509903#t1232509903) and Will meeting Crowley (Good Omens) rather more involved. (http://community.livejournal.com/campfuckudie/3993807.html?thread=1232532943#t1232532943) (Crowley is currently female because of a camp effect).
You'll probably browse this and wonder at the connections characters have made -- campfuckudie's been running upwards of two years now, tends to move pretty fast. Will's been in camp almost a month and a half, Robin eight months I think now. So the relationships they've formed add another dimension to the RP experience.
I kept browsing your muse list and The Reading Room looks fascinating too. I've bookmarked both for consideration in three weeks once I'm done with school. I'm very glad I happened across you!
Both EO and RR are reincarnation-based games. The basic idea is that the characters live regular lives (well, as regular as it gets with divine or magical stuff going on) but also carry the souls of fictional characters from books/tv/movies/etc. At some point they remember these previous lives and can then recognize others from their own stories. I mod at EO so if you're interested in that one let me know. RR has an application process in the ooc comm.
Oh, worth noting: RR is a lot faster paced and more active than EO. EO's pretty laid back most of the time. When we aren't raining doom down upon the population of Phoenix, that is.
